How Rooted Home handles your family's information.
Last updated: September 7, 2026
Rooted Home is a shared family organizer — calendar, lists, chores, reminders, recipes, notes, contacts, and a household chat — made by Only Apps LLC. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the Rooted Home apps and website.
The short version: your data exists to run your household's shared space. We show no ads, we sell nothing about you, and we use no third-party analytics or tracking.
What we collect
- Account information. Your email address, name, and optional profile photo, provided when you sign up with an email and password, with Google Sign-In, or with Sign in with Apple. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we receive only the relay address Apple provides.
- Household content you add. Calendar events, chores, reminders, list items, notes, contacts, recipes and recipe photos, chat messages and photo attachments, and the display names of household members — including children's names added by a parent or guardian.
- Device and technical data. Push notification tokens for devices you enable notifications on, the app version you run, and short-lived infrastructure request logs.
- Subscription information. If your household subscribes, we store which plan it has, whether it renews monthly or annually, when the current period ends, and which store billed it. Billing is tied to your household rather than to you personally, and we never receive or store your card number.
We do not collect your location, read your device's address book (contacts in Rooted Home are typed in by your household), or gather advertising identifiers or analytics profiles.
How we use it
Only to provide the service: keeping your household's shared content in sync across members and devices, sending the notifications you configure, and powering the optional AI features described below. Nothing is used for advertising or profiling.
AI features
When you use AI capture (typing or photographing something for the app to file), the content you submit — plus the household context the feature needs, such as your list names and household member display names, including children's names, so items can be assigned to the right person — is sent to Anthropic (the maker of Claude) for processing. Anthropic acts as our service provider and does not use data submitted through its API to train its models. AI features are always optional: everything in Rooted Home can be entered by hand, at no cost.
Service providers
- Google Firebase — sign-in (email/password, Google and Apple accounts).
- Cloudflare — hosting, database, and file storage for the whole service.
- Anthropic — AI processing, only when you use an AI feature.
- Google and Apple push services — delivering the notifications you turn on.
- RevenueCat — managing subscriptions across the stores. It receives an identifier for your household and the store's receipt — not your name and not your email address.
- Apple, Google, and Stripe — taking payment. You pay through the app store on your device, or through our web checkout, and that company handles your payment details directly; we never see them.
- Google Calendar — only if a member connects their own Google account, that member's Rooted Home events sync two-way with their Google Calendar. Disconnect any time in Settings; we access calendar events only.
These providers process data on our behalf to run the service. We never sell or rent personal information.
Children's privacy
Child profiles in Rooted Home are created and managed by a parent or guardian in their own household — children cannot sign themselves up. Features that involve a child (like chat participation or being assigned a chore) are controlled by the parent, and we keep a record of those parental consent choices. Children do not receive direct push or email notifications. A child's information is only what their household adds, it is visible only inside that household, and — as noted above — a child's display name may be included when their household uses an AI feature, so the AI can assign items to them. A parent can review a child's profile, adjust their access, or remove them at any time in Settings; removal deletes the child's chat messages. To exercise any parental rights under COPPA, contact us at rootedhome-support@onlyapps.app.
Sharing inside your household
Rooted Home is a shared space by design: content you add is visible to the members of your household. Guests you invite get read-only access to a limited set of surfaces (calendar, chores, lists, contacts) — plus the household chat, but only if the owner turns that on for them. Nothing is shared with anyone outside your household.
Retention
Your content is kept while your account and household are active. Chat messages are automatically deleted on a schedule your household's owner sets (at most 365 days). Infrastructure logs are short-lived. Subscription records are kept while your household has a plan, and afterwards for as long as we need them for tax and accounting. When you or your household's owner delete content or remove a member, it is removed from our storage systems and we keep an internal record that the deletion was completed.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and the personal data associated with it at any time, directly in the app: open Settings, find the Danger zone card, and choose Delete my account. You'll confirm your sign-in first; deletion starts immediately, your access ends right away, and remaining data is removed from our storage systems within 30 days. If you are your household's only owner, deleting your account also deletes the entire household and its content for every member. Your login, personal details, sign-in sessions, notification registrations and any connected Google Calendar credentials are deleted; things you added for the family (like events or list items) stay with a surviving household, no longer tied to your name.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple, Google, or our web checkout, and only they can stop the charges — cancel there, in the account that bought it, or billing continues.
You can also request deletion without the app: email rootedhome-support@onlyapps.app from the address on your account and we will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days. Household owners can also remove individual members in Settings, which deletes that member's chat messages and ends their access.
Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit, data is stored with our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare), and access is limited to what is needed to operate the service.
